On the 11th December 25 years ago, Bucks Fizz were on a sell-out tour of the UK when disaster struck. Their coach collided with an on-coming lorry and Mike Nolan and Cheryl Baker were thrown through the windscreen. Cheryl, Jay Aston and Bobby Gee all sustained injuries but Mike Nolan was by far the worst affected. He suffered from a head injury which resulted in a blood clot on the brain, a condition that would change his life forever. To this day, Mike suffers from short-term memory loss, tunnel vision and has to take strong pain drugs to combat epilepsy. He has had to relinquish his driving licence so has lost his independence.25 years after that fateful day, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, now known as "The Original Buck Fizz" are returning to Newcastle to perform at the very same venue, Newcastle City Hall on Saturday 12th December.
